More scraps scattered on the walls of my brain

My interpretation of Esmerelda "Granny" Weatherwax, my favorite character in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Character belongs to Terry Pratchett (and propably some publisher) etcetrah, etcetrah...

Flintheart Glomgold, the second richest (but most vicious) duck in the world, arch nemesis of Scrooge Mc Duck (as seen above), richest duck in the world.

Mickey Mouse and all depicted Duck characters belong to Disney Inc. Flintheart Glomgold (Pic 3) was created by Carl Barks (He's been dead for 13 years and didn't own the character anyway (Disney, again), but if I'm paying credit to all those corporate owners, I'll damn well pay credit to this master). Rufus (pic 4) belongs to Daedalic Entertainment). Batman belongs to DC Comics, (maybe even Warner Bros.? Damn, referencing existing Characters is fun, but I'm scared shitless that some of those Big Companies might come down hard on my... ah well.

Ducks and other stuff

Who knows me is aware of my obsession with Disney Ducks, mainly due to the great comics by legendary "Duck man" Carl Barks, as well as many other artists who followed in his footsteps (though I like a lot of the classic Donald cartoons as well). In this post I show some Duck sketches I did and pinned casually on my wall. (All depicted characters belong to Disney Inc.)

Sketches in the following picture are my own interpretations of poses found in the classic Carl Barks comics:

And some more of random scribbles and smearings  clustered alls over my walls, cupboard and Door:

This is my own version of a Head found in a book about sequential art and character design ("Framed Ink")

From my sketchbook

Scanned a few sketches from my current sketchbook that I thought were showable. Those were smeared in with some thick marker :)

Donald Duck and Gladstone Gander are property of Disney Inc.

Tree in Pot

Did a little tree practice while I was outside, later at home spontaneously turned it into some kind of Bonsai Thing :)

More sketches

Don't get much to draw except random sketching. Thought I'd post some of those (old and new) I'm not ashamed of.
This one I did last Semester. Though those guys might be some "professional" hitmen or something.

"Self Portrait" sketch in front of the bathroom mirror:

A very reduced sketch of the Eisenhower Rotunda at Goethe University, Frankfurt

While watching Donald Cartoons, I stopped the DVD and smeared around a bit.. (Donald Duck belongs to the Disney Company...)

This one's pretty new. I did a conceptual sketch which sums up the Basic idea behind my mad scientist characters. I hope some time I will find the time and Courage to reakize this idea...

So Long :)

Sketching (mostly) hands

Most recently I read an article about the difficulties of drawing Hands. "Damn, yeah.." I thought and made a few sketches, based more or less on my own left Hand:

I was actually kinda pleased with those, but still, it took Close Observation too get the proportions and positions right (more or less at least). Also, note that I still needed to draw them in very simple, easy to draw perspective and poses..
Later that day, I did once again a sketch on the bus, drawing random stuff. Note that I, still couldn't let go of the Topic of  hands.
The "talking mouse Hand" below Looks fairly simple in comparison, yet is not to be underestimated, when trying to portray it convincingly in various different poses/perspectives.
So Long :)

Hairwax and pugs

Recently finished this fictional ad for a fictional hairwax brand. I was laughing so hard (laughing at my own lame jokes is one of the many things I love about drawing) :D
On a side note, this actually started out as randomly sketching a guy that I saw at University cafe, but as I went on he started transforming into this fashionable gentleman and soon the animals appeared as well :D As much as I love planning out drawings, I equally like when stuff like that just develops out of the blue :)

This sketch page also started by doing a loose (and rather uninteresting) sketch of someone that walked past me in the subway. Soon after that, again, animals appeared:
I'm especially happy with the pig (I like the happy look on his/her face) as well as the pug. The pug was sketched using the march photo of the "Mops Kalender 2013" ("pug calendar 2013") that is hanging on my wall as a reference. I can't help but to find these little creature ridiculously cute. Even though I do find it troubling that man bred them in this way, with all their health problems, I still can't help acting like a Little kid when I see one (and French Bulldogs as well). They are like adorable Little Alien babies!
So, to stay on topic, small pug sketch I did in between activities some time ago:
After doing that I actually felt sorry for drawing him without his toy...

Last Friday's travel sketch and my university scribbles

Since I travel a lot by bus/Train/Subway I have lot of time on my Hands doing sketches. Since ther is a lot to see out of the Windows as well as inside the vehicles, the drawings are often (sometimes just loosely) based on things/landscapes/People I see on the wa to University/work. As are These sketches I did last friday:
Also, while at University, I often Scribble while sitting at class. This might seem like a bad Habit, but I actually am quite good at drawing and listening to lectures at the same time (even more amazing since I normally suck at multitasking). Still, I try to remain fairly hidden by doing it, to avboid angry glares by my Profs :D
Random Stuff I scribled at class and later at home:
Two fancy ladies:

Don't even ask about this one, I have no idea :D
Well, that's it for now, thanks to anyone who stopped by :)

First post/Jarek and the Squeeker

Well,
this Blog is supposed to be some sort of sketchblog, where I will post my random drawings I scribbled during the day, as well as sometimes bigger, more planned out drawings. I'll start with an older one, since I still have to scan most of my sketches. It depicts insa... erm... brilliant scientist Dr. Jarek and his little helper, The Squeeker, a Rat who became insa... erm... "intelligent, after the Dr. ran a little experiment with it. :)

Hope someone likes it :)

Regards, Danjy
